Most of the\u00a0Russian scientific effort to support their space programme is based in Siberia.<\/p><p>The device is a biomedical device outside of the current medical paradigm.\u00a0It is based on 20 years of basic research done by a number of Russian teams who recorded frequencies\u00a0emitted by\u00a0particular organs. They recorded\u00a0what the normal frequency\u00a0response would be for any particular age of either male or female subjects of each of the organs.<\/p><p>The BBC device is used for assessing organ function and not structure. Therefore it is not\u00a0like an ECG, CT, MRI, or an Ultrasound scan. It is specifically measuring the magnetic\u00a0vector potential which, those readers skilled in physics will recognize, as the \u0100 field\u00a0which runs in the direction of current. This is at right angle to the B field which cuts\u00a0the lines of magnetic force at right angles and is what drives an electric motor. Living\u00a0systems are very sensitive indeed to the \u0100 field (the magnetic vector potential).<\/p><p>The\u00a0relevant frequency patterns are projected through the headphones (these are\u00a0inaudible as they are well above the audible frequency range). The sensor channels\u00a0the information which comes off the test subject as a result of having the resonant\u00a0frequencies passed through the headphones to a computer based device and the\u00a0readings are shown. Then, relevant stresses, which have also had their\u00a0frequency response determined using the same methods, are compared against the\u00a0reading found and as a result, the patient goes away with an BICOM optima\u00ae l set of BICOM\u00ae programs which are most likely to help their current condition. Therefore, from a\u00a0practical point of view, this is a method of determining ideal therapies and is not\u00a0fundamentally a diagnostic device. For example, it cannot diagnose whether a\u00a0cancer is present or not.<\/p><p>Doctors report that when they test their patients with known pathologies and try to\u00a0correlate these with the BBC readings. The correlation between the BBC\u00a0readings and the patient\u2019s site of disease, was just over 80%. In spite of that, this is\u00a0not a diagnostic device.<\/p><p>The idea of frequency response being relevant in medicine has been given\u00a0considerable scientific support by a range of recent research projects being carried\u00a0out around the world. One team led by Alexandre Barbault from Switzerland, reported on his study using amplitude-modulated electromagnetic fields in the\u00a0treatment of cancer. He found tumor specific frequencies, these were large groups\u00a0of frequencies, and then went on to assess a novel therapeutic approach based on\u00a0his findings. This was published with several co-authors in the Journal of\u00a0Experimental Clinical Cancer Research in 2009. He has been treating a number of\u00a0late-stage cancer cases who have failed all modalities of treatment, who were\u00a0maintained with stable disease using Barbault\u2019s approaches; that is simply exposing\u00a0the patient to a highly complex set of frequencies determined by painstaking\u00a0measurements made on the subjects. Additional to this work there are projects being\u00a0developed by a company called Novocure, a company based in Haifa, are using\u00a0groups of resonant frequencies applied over brain tumors of patients with\u00a0glioblastoma multiforme, which is the most malignant of all brain tumors. This\u00a0company has been able to establish significantly increased survival of patients\u00a0treated in this way, simply with a probe and applicator placed on the scalp over the\u00a0tumor, compared to standard treatment approaches. What is more, this company\u00a0has significant investment from several major pharmaceutical companies.<\/p><p>The readings shown by the BBC equipment have more in common with a\u00a0traditional Chinese medicine view of the way the body works, which is very much\u00a0based on organ function, as opposed to a standard biomedical model, which is based\u00a0more on structure. Integrating these conventional and non-conventional approaches,\u00a0which is what we do in the consultation situation, we have found to be most helpful\u00a0from a clinical point of view.\u00a0It is possible to conceive that with additional interest and research along the lines of\u00a0the studies mentioned that these approaches may increasingly attract the interest of\u00a0mainstream medicine.<\/p><p><strong>Summary<\/strong><\/p><p>The BBC Device is a Russian system which measures the magnetic vector\u00a0potential as an aid to functional status and the treatment of patients. Functional\u00a0status, relates much more to how traditional Chinese medicine looks at organ\u00a0function than conventional medicine concepts.<\/p><p>We tested this equipment on 200 patients who randomly presented with known\u00a0pathologies, set to scan results, to test the accuracy of the BBC System. We\u00a0found it gave correct findings relating to the area of dysfunction corresponding with\u00a0known pathology in 170 of the 200 cases (an 85% positive response rate). It did not\u00a0give any guidance as to what the nature of any underlying pathology might be.<\/p><p><strong>Aims and Objectives of Study<\/strong><\/p><p>The aim is to assess and compare the performance of the Oberon practical as an aid\u00a0to functional changes best summarized by traditional Chinese medicine view of organ\u00a0function, by correlation with patients\u2019 know pathology. We also aim to evaluate user\u00a0and patient acceptance of the equipment and patient safety.<\/p><p><strong>Methods<\/strong><\/p><p>Randomly presenting patients with known pathology were measured on the BBC\u00a0practical equipment. Depending on the measurement scores, represented\u00a0symbolically on the relevant organs, are shown on a range of 1-6. Scores of 1,2 and\u00a03 are regarded as normal, 4, 5 and 6 are regarded as indicating dysfunction, 6\u00a0indicating the most dysfunctional. The result was judged according to correlation of\u00a0scores 4,5 and 6 in the area of known pathology determined by conventional\u00a0investigations to the results from the Oberon system on the patients in the study.\u00a0Each patient signed an informed consent before the procedure was carried out.<\/p><p><strong>Results<\/strong><\/p><p>170 cases of malignant disease of various sorts. 4 had multiple sclerosis, 3 had\u00a0heart disease, 1 had Osteoarthritis, 1 each of epilepsy, fibroids, and Insect Sting with\u00a0swelling of the finger joints, benign prostatic hypertrophy, an anal fistula, transverse\u00a0myelitis, pneumonia, cystic fibrosis, hearing loss from blocked eustachian tube,\u00a0cervical spondylosis, labarynthitis, injury to the right conjunctiva, bronchiectasis,\u00a0cystitis and peripheral neuropathy. This made a total of 200 cases.\u00a0170 of the 200 cases showed a correlated response to areas of known pathology\u00a0and areas on dysfunction as shown on the BBC\u00a0system. 7 showed an equivocal\u00a0response where it was not possible to be sure what the readings indicated and how\u00a0they correlated with the patients\u2019 pathology. 23 showed negative results. Some of\u00a0these negative results were associated with patients taking steroids or having\u00a0chemotherapy. However, in the positive results there were some patients who were\u00a0also taking steroids. There were no side effects of any sort involving the use of the\u00a0equipment. It was found to have excellent user and patient acceptance.<\/p><p><strong>Detailed results<\/strong><\/p><p>It was noted that those patients who had no response with the BBC\u00a0device\u00a0showed a similar negative response on subsequent testing. This effect appears to\u00a0be independent of any drug regime and is presumably to do with something peculiar\u00a0to the test subject, the nature of which is currently unknown. We have tested this\u00a0equipment with 200 patients and found it gave correct findings corresponding to sites\u00a0and known pathology in 170 of the 200 cases (an 85% positive response rate).<\/p><p><strong>Discussion<\/strong><\/p><p>The readings of the BBC\u00a0system indicated dysfunctional process, that is scores of\u00a04,5 and 6 showed an encouraging result of 85% correspondence with known\u00a0pathology. It is not possible for the BBC system to define these high scores as\u00a0being due to any particular cause, such as malignancy, inflammatory processes,\u00a0traumatic processes etc. This requires a thorough medical history, clinical\u00a0examination and appropriate further conventional investigations. Therefore the\u00a0BBC\u00a0system is not a conventional diagnostic device, but it is a useful means of\u00a0locating dysfunction and as a guide to treatment and possible further investigation in\u00a0any clinical situation.<\/p><p><strong>Conclusion<\/strong><\/p><p>The BBC\u00a0system is a useful means of assessing function in terms of how\u00a0traditional Chinese medicine looks at function and is therefore not a diagnostic\u00a0device.
